What to Expect / FAQ

  • Who is the speaker this year?
We are thrilled to welcome Jamie Ivey, author, speaker, and podcast host of the wildly popular podcast, The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey. Her husband is one of the worship leaders at The Austin Stone Community Church, and they live in Austin with their four children (one biological, two adopted from Haiti, and one adopted domestically).
  • Do you offer a discount if I can only attend part of the retreat?
Unfortunately, no. We would love for you to attend the entire retreat, but we understand if other commitments come up. However, we cannot accommodate everyone’s busy schedules and offer discounts or partial payment.
  • If I don’t purchase a VIP ticket, will I still be able to meet Jamie Ivey?
Unfortunately, no. Jamie has a tight schedule and only our VIP ticket holders will have the chance to meet Jamie.
  • If I don’t purchase a VIP ticket, will I still be able to purchase Jamie’s book?
Yes! We are excited to partner with our favorite local bookstore, Fabled, who will host a book table and sell several of Jamie’s books. Cash and credit/debit cards will be accepted.
  • What is the schedule for the retreat?
Please click here for a detailed itinerary.
  • What breakout sessions are you offering this year?
For a complete list of storytelling sessions, click here.
  • When will I find out which breakout session I get to attend?
When you register for the retreat, you will rank which breakout session you want to attend. We will do our best to honor your preferences but can’t guarantee you will receive your first choice. Thank you in advance for understanding. When you sign in for the retreat on Friday night, you will receive your retreat itinerary that will list which breakout sessions you will attend. Think of it like opening a gift on Christmas morning – it will be a fun surprise!
  • Will there be a merch table?
Yes! The Well merch table will be open. We are also excited to partner with our local bookstore, Fabled, who will also have a table and will be selling some of Jamie Ivey’s books. The Well table will accept cash, checks, and credit/debit cards. Fabled will accept cash and credit/debit cards so come ready to shop!
  • Do you have to be a member/regular attender of First Woodway to come to the retreat?
No! Any woman, age college and up, is welcome to attend. We would love for you to invite your neighbor, sister, mother, or best friend. Just make sure she registers by January 24.
  • What should I wear?
You will be sitting a lot so wear something comfortable. And if you tend to feel cold in churches (and in February), it’s always a good idea to bring a sweater.
  • I see childcare is not provided. Can I bring my toddler if I bring her iPad and headphones?
While we love kiddos and don’t want to turn anyone away, we want to help all women fellowship, worship, and enjoy Jamie’s teaching distraction-free. We encourage you to reach out to your Life Group if you need assistance with childcare.
  • What should I bring?
We suggest you bring your Bible, a journal, a pen, and a water bottle. Also, flexibility and a willingness to get out of your comfort zone and meet new people always helps!
  • What if I need prayer?
We will have a prayer room available during the retreat, as well as a place for you to submit anonymous requests throughout the weekend.
  • Where should I park?
The two most convenient locations to park are in the West parking lot (next to the circle drive) or East parking lot.
  • What if I still have questions?
If you still have questions that we haven’t answered, feel free to email Lauren Stephens, Women’s Ministry Associate, at lstephens@firstwoodway.org.
