I take it that if you have chosen to sign up for CrossRoads that you are 1) a Christian and 2) an athlete. I would also guess that you find it difficult to balance the two. Some of you may have never found yourself even thinking about your faith when it comes to athletics. Others of you may think the only connection is pointing to the sky when you accomplish something. If you’re like me, you think you will lose your competitive “edge” if you were to play the way you think Jesus has called you to.

Regardless of where you stand, I know before every game there is a moment, a crossroad, where you have an opportunity to decide who you will play for. Like all decisions, our autofill is me, myself and I and so if you have never paused to think about it, it always will be about you. This crossroad happens in the locker-room, on the bus, or maybe on the bench, and this is where I hope to meet you.

My hope is that when you take a few minutes to read the content that it will help realign your heart and motivation to play for the One who created and loves you. That you will begin to go into every game focused on the call of Matthew 5:16:“…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

The truth that I am convinced of is that God cares about you. This means that He cares about your game and definitely how you handle success and failure. I am also convinced that when we play for Him and His glory we are freed from the chains of expectations this world loves to put on athletes.

Let’s do this together.
