We love kids! And we want the time that children spend at First Woodway to be the best hours of their week, while building a firm foundation on the truth and love of Jesus Christ.

What’s Happening Now!

We are working hard to minimize the risk of spreading COVID, while ensuring that every child feels loved, encounters God, and has a blast at church. Please read over the Parent Handbook before you come on Sunday mornings. In it, you will find all the new protocols, schedule, and information you need. Click here for the Parent Handbook.

5th & 6th Grade HOLIDAY HOOPLA – Friday, December 11
What is HOLIDAY HOOPLA? It is just a time for our current 5th and 6th graders to come together for dinner, games, a gift exchange, fellowship, and more. Cost is free, except for the gift you will bring. Due to space limitations and COVID restrictions, we require reservations and only First Woodway members/attenders may attend this year. Watch your mail and email for more information! You can register here.

It is so easy to get caught up in the events and expectations of the Christmas season that we neglect to keep its true meaning before us. To help your family stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas, the Children’s Ministry is providing an Advent Kit for your family. Included each day of Advent (which begins November 29), is a Scripture reading and short devotion about one of the names for Jesus. Discussion questions are provided, along with an activity for each day. You can pick up your Advent Kit in the Atrium of the Children’s building or at the children’s ministry office during the week.

There is so much joy surrounding this season, but there can also be a lot of chaos! There are decorations to put up, parties to throw, and presents to purchase. It is so easy to let the entire month of December fly past us and totally forget why we celebrate Christmas. That is why we are hosting “Dough Holy Night” this year. This is a fun and interactive experience designed for your family to do at home. Together, you will bake a batch of Christmas cookies and, along the way, hear the story of the very first Christmas. Best of all, there is a video that walks you step-by-step through the entire experience. It is so simple. To participate, click here.

Sunday, November 29

Good Evening, Parents!

Attached, you will find this week’s Sunday School lesson information. For those of you who will continue to worship with us at home, please read the application verse and text with your children. Following that, feel free to use the attached materials to reinforce the lesson.

If you will be joining us in person this week, you can use the attached lesson material to either pre-teach or for follow up!

Advent begins this Sunday. Advent is a word that means “coming.” In the Christian season of Advent, we prepare for the ‘advent’ of Christ at Christmas and anxiously await His second coming. During this season, we remember and rejoice, watch and wait, and we reflect on the promises of God while we anticipate the fulfillment of those promises.

If you have not picked up your family’s Advent Kit yet, you can do so on Sunday in the Atrium or during the week in the Children’s Ministry Office. Use this resource to draw your family closer to Christ as you focus on Him this season.

Please join us on social media! You can find us on Facebook and Instagram.

In addition to the Sunday School material, I have attached a Sermon Notes Page and other items that go along with what our adult Life Groups will be studying on Sunday. Feel free to use these at home or print them to use at church during Worship.

For those who will be joining us on Sunday, we cannot wait to see you and your children.

As always, I am here if you need anything.

The Kingdom Kids New Believer’s 101 Class is a pre-requisite for grade school children to be baptized at First Woodway. Classes are held in room 1204 from 9:45 am – 10:45 am. We believe that baptism is an outward symbol of an inward decision to follow Christ, so this class is for kids who have already accepted Christ as their Savior and desire to be baptized. In this class, we will discuss salvation, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, Worship, and how children can begin to grow in their Christian walk. Each child will receive a devotion book and workbook.

*** If you would like to be put on a waiting list, please contact Melissa at mgrace@firstwoodway.org before sending your forms in.***

The mission of First Woodway Mother’s Day out program is to provide opportunities for children to hear, learn, and live out God’s Word in a Christian-based preschool setting. Our desire is to teach and encourage children to love God, love others, and serve both.

The goal of First Woodway’s Mother’s Day Out program is to create a Christ centered environment for young children that is inviting and full of exciting and educational activities. Our Bible-based curriculum provides a teaching topic for each week, which includes a Bible verse, story, and activity. Our rooms are arranged for free play time as well as for learning centers where children can make choices for individual or small group activities. We strive to meet the spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, and social needs of your child in a warm and loving environment. Click here to take a tour of our facilities.

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)

Never let your fire go out…When you hope, be joyful. When you suffer, be patient. When you pray, be faithful. Share with God’s people who are in need. Welcome others into your homes. Romans 12:11-13 (NIrV)

First Woodway knows being a mother is one of the toughest yet most important jobs a woman can ever do, and First Woodway has a MOPS group especially designed to help Mothers of Preschoolers! These often sleep-deprived women, with stroller and car carrier appendages, meet regularly every other Wednesday morning (9:00 – 11:30 am) from September to May.

MOPS International Registration Fee is $32 (paid at time of registration)
MOPPET fees are paid in September and January – $35/one MOPPET or $45/two or more

KIDS’ ROOTED (during Fall and Spring)
Discipleship + Music
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm every Wednesday evening.

ROOTED is based on Colossians 2:6-7: “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” The Kingdom Kids staff has a deep desire for kids to have a deep-rooted faith. Wednesday evenings will be key to growing that faith through discipleship and music.

Fall: Emphasis on Discipleship
We will play games, memorize Scripture, learn Bible skills, and dig deep into the Bible as we guide your students to have a deep-rooted faith.1st-6th grade // 6:00-7:00 pm

Spring: Emphasis on Music
We will spend time learning music and learning how to worship God through it.

Preschool (ages pre-kinder & kindergarten) // 6:00-7:00 pm
Each Wednesday Night Beginning again in the Fall
We will have 30 minutes of music, followed by 30 minutes of discipleship. In Discipleship, the kids will begin to learn about the Bible and will be taught that God made, knows, and leads us. These all lay a great foundation to the Bible and introduces kids to great concepts. During music, the kids will learn fun songs that show the power and greatness of God.

Preschool (age 3) // 6:00-7:00 pm
Each Wednesday Night Beginning again in the Fall
Our 3s this year will stay in the same room the entire night. They will have play time, music time, and Bible story time.

Babies-Twos // 6:00-7:00 pm
For parents who are on campus, either serving or attending a discipleship class, we have childcare available for the littles.

For ages three through sixth grade, the place for music and discipleship is at First Woodway every Wednesday night! We also offer an evening meal, including a kids’ menu, from 5:00-5:45 pm each Wednesday. Cost is $6 per adult, $3 for kids 12 and under, and ages 4 and under eat free. Email ldixon@firstwoodway.org to RSVP.
