The Mission of First Baptist Woodway’s Kingdom Kids Ministry is to share God’s word so that children have the greatest opportunity to know, love and serve God and to equip parents as they disciple and raise their children in Christ.
Thanks for your interest in serving in the Kingdom Kids Ministry at First Baptist Woodway! Your involvement matters because your service makes a difference in the lives of children. We serve for His glory – not our own – and we serve because Jesus Himself came not to be served, but to serve (Matt. 20:28).
As Disciples who seek to follow in the way of Jesus Christ, we need to do as Jesus did to nourish and strengthen our relationship with God. We were created to serve God by caring for His children and acting as good stewards of His creation. No matter what your God-given gifts are, First Woodway can put them to His use. Whether you serve as a teacher, helper, greeter or an extra pair of hands, Christians with a spirit for service are needed for countless volunteer opportunities in our Kingdom Kids Ministry. Our belief is that as people serve, the impact of that service will change lives… for those serving, for the people they serve, and even for those who see them giving their time to help someone else.
As you read through the various volunteer opportunities contained here, please pray about where God would have you serve and then contact Kingdom Kids!
Sunday School: Teacher/Helper
Infants-Three Year Olds
Sunday mornings are always exciting. Our staff and volunteers are passionate about discipling kids to become fully devoted followers of Christ! Teachers and helpers with infants and one year olds lead our youngest children as they begin to learn that Jesus loves them. They do this through games, play time, Bible stories, and simple songs.
Our teachers and helpers with two years olds through first grade guide kids as they begin to learn more about what it means to have a relationship with Jesus. Teachers lead the children through the use of puppets, drama, Bible stories, games, crafts, and snacks that reinforce the story.
Teachers and helpers with second through sixth grade train our kids to worship God in all that they do. With this age group, the opportunities abound to challenge the kids to apply God’s truth to their lives. They do this through great discussion time, exciting Bible stories, interactive games, and more.
Pre-K Praise: Leader/Helper
Pre-K Praise is a special praise time designed specifically for our pre-k kids. The Bible lesson for the day comes alive through interactive multi-media, music, games, crafts, and snacks. As a leader in Pre-K Praise, you will greet children as they arrive, guide them through centers, and share the Truth of God’s Word. Join us as we use this creative time of worship to show the love of Christ to the kids.
Hallelujah House: Small Group Leader
Age: Kindergarten-Grade 1
Hallelujah House is children’s worship for our kinder and first grade kids, and has two elements: large group and small group.
During large group time, the kids participate in fun activities, followed by a powerful time of praise and worship, skits, drama, puppets, and Bible teaching. After large group time, the kids transition to small group time for relationship building, discussion, activities, prayer, and more!
Your role as a leader is to greet kids, love them, and serve as a leader and mentor to them.
The Word: Small Group Leader
Age: Grades 2-4
Sunday morning in The Word is always exciting and it is the kind of environment where kids want to invite their friends!
Gravitate: The large group time to hang out and play games with friends and small group leaders!
Elevate: The large group time designed to praise, worship and discover God’s Word! This is a powerful time of worship, drama, skits, videos, teaching, and more!
Navigate: The small group time where YOU review and reinforce the lesson to help the kids apply concepts to their everyday lives. The games and activities are planned ahead for you and emailed in advance!
Age: Infants-Grade 6
Sunday mornings are always exciting in Kingdom Kids!
While teachers and helpers are teaching our precious children about Jesus, floor coordinators assist them by pulling supplies and delivering snacks. They also assist the children’s coordinators with making visitors feel welcome, and putting supplies away.
Ages 3 – Grade 6
ROOTED is based on Colossians 2:6-7, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, ROOTED and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Our deepest desire is that children have a deep-rooted faith. Wednesday evenings are key to that as the children study the Word of God and learn how to apply it to their lives. Our leaders and helpers guide children each week through a Bible lesson, activities, scripture memorization, and loads of fun!

Sunday Morning Teachers
This is your opportunity to help the Bible to come alive for middle school and high school students. We have classes during the 9:00 hour.
7:37 Small Group Leaders
On Sunday nights we have discipleship growth groups for 7th – 12th graders, where leaders get to model Christ in a small group, mentoring-type setting.
Parent On Patrol
We need parents to help us with general supervision each week during our Prime Time and Wednesday Night Live program (it’s only once every couple of months from 6:30-8:30).
We are always looking for fun, energetic adults who can go to camp with us in July, help out with other events such as retreats and parties throughout the year, and stay up all night at the middle school Hoop-De-Doo each fall.
Chi Alpha Host Homes
Every January, we need families who will host small groups of our students for a special discipleship weekend that continues to change lives.

Hosting College Community Groups
Due to Covid, College Life Groups will not meet in host homes this semester. The prayer is that next semester we will be able to pick up where we left off, however, we will not know until the end of the Fall. To our former host homes thank you for being patient with us. With all of that being said, here is the sign up to be a Life Group Host home.
Student-led, mid-week Life Group gatherings of students (8-20) meet weekly Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday nights. We need families within 15 miles of Baylor to open their homes, adopt, and host these groups every year. If you are interested, click here and fill out this form.
Adopt a College Student
Many of our students are hours away from their families and go all four years of college having minimal interactions with any families or adults while living in Waco. We are looking for families, or couples, who would be excited to invest in a college student.
There would be an expectation of a minimum of two touch points a week.[Examples of touch points are: an encouraging text, meet for coffee, family dinner, movie night, go to Baylor games, offer a spare room as a quiet study space away from campus. Invite the student into your life, so they would feel comfortable enough to invite you into theirs.]
Our Adopt a College Student program would not start until Spring of 2021. If you are interested, please fill out this short application.
One of the best ways to serve at the MAC is to join one of our MAC Groups! We encourage you to connect with a neighbor or co-worker by inviting them out for a run (84Runners), a hike (Narrow Road Hiking Club), a round of golf (Bogey Club), or maybe bring them out to the MAC for Pickleball! Contact Case Smith, Director of Recreation at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Special Needs (Helping Hands)
Contact: Kelsey Fritscher Brown
Helping Hands provides ministry for persons with disabilities (babies through adulthood) and their families. More than 40 members are either partnered with a Buddy so they can attend regular Sunday School classes, or are taught in their own special class. Our volunteer base is primarily made up of church members, high school age through senior adults, as well as several college students. Please consider joining us twice per month [or more if you’d like] for an hour to work with these precious children, teens, and adults. We look forward to getting to know you as you minister alongside these families!

The Choir sets the pace for our church family as they lead out in worship each week. We are looking for everyone who has a heart for worship to join us. Rehearsals take place each Wednesday night from 7:00 until 8:15 pm.
We are looking for experienced players who want to use their gifts to worship the Lord through the First Woodway Orchestra. The orchestra plays 12 times per semester, averaging two Sundays on and one Sunday off. Orchestra members rehearse at 8:00 am on the Sunday mornings they play. Then they play as part of the worship services. The orchestra also plays for special events throughout the year, including Christmas, Easter, and special worship events.
The worship band is a rotating, auditioned group consisting of keyboard (synth), electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drums, and auxiliary percussion (shaker, cajon, conga drums, sus cymbal, chimes, etc…). They are the foundation of all we do in the worship ministry. They meet each Sunday at 7:45 am to pray, set up and rehearse for the morning services.
Praise Team is an auditioned group that primarily is made up of members from the choir. They gather for prayer and rehearsal at 7:30 am on Sundays and sing in the service.
The Venue Band
The Venue Band is a group of auditioned musicians that consists of drums, bass, keys, electric and acoustic guitars and vocalists. Discipleship Class Leaders
Every semester we provide a number of midweek discipleship classes to congregants and the wider community. Leaders either teach or facilitate discussion in these settings. We are always interested in finding new leaders!
Group leaders serve on teams that oversee group life at First Woodway. Most groups meet on Sunday mornings, and a few groups meet in homes throughout the week. Let us know if you are interested in serving as a teacher or fellowship coordinator in this area!

The best kind of storytelling includes visual storytelling, and few things communicate better than a good photo. If you are a talented photographer and would like to help us capture the life and heart of the First Woodway family, we’d love to hear from you.

If you are looking for a creative and unique way to serve at First Woodway, we have a place for you on the production crew! With every sound transmitted, every light shone, and each image displayed in our services and live events, we seek to steward the atmosphere for the presence of God. No experience necessary—training is provided. All ages welcome! We ask that volunteers under 13 are accompanied by a parent serving alongside them.

The task of hosting visitors and members well is an incredibly important one, and we need help in order to do this with excellence! We are looking for young, smiling faces to add to our great team of volunteers to help serve in this vital ministry! Here’s where we need your help:
Golf Cart Team
We have a big parking lot and lots of traffic in it, so we would love to offer safe and convenient rides to our church family.
Red Wagon Team
Parents of young kids often have their hands full with diaper bags as they try to wrangle their little ones through the parking lot into the church, and we want to help. This team will go out into the designated lot for “families with small children” and offer rides for the kids into the building or just offer to take in bags so that the parents have an easier walk into the church!
Friendly faces to be out on the sidewalks to help point people in the right direction.
Kingdom Kids Greeters
Once families get into the building, we want to make sure that they feel welcomed and taken care of…that’s what Kingdom Kids Greeters are all about! We help our guests get checked in on our system and then help them find classrooms for their little ones.
These are our people standing in strategic locations to make sure that everyone who walks into our building is greeted with a smile, a handshake, and a statement that says no matter who you are, how your morning has gone, or what you did on Saturday night, we are so glad you are here!
Welcome Desk – Main Service (9:00 and 10:30 am) and The Venue Service (10:30 am)
This team’s main purpose is to be Information Central! If you have a question about which class would be a good fit for you, where do the kids go for their classes, what time are the services, or any number of other questions…this is the team you go to!
Guides – Main Service (9:00 and 10:30 am) and The Venue Service (10:30 am)
This group is the one who walks our guests to the locations that the Welcome Desk points them to…in other words, this group helps to make sure we don’t have anyone wandering the halls looking for where they are supposed to be!
