Serve at First Woodway

God has also called us to serve others including those within our church family. From serving in the classrooms with the Children’s Ministry to welcoming others through the church doors, there are a variety of ways for you to serve others here at First Woodway. We also believe in serving others in the community; visit our Missions page to learn more about how you can serve though local outreach.

Woodway Kids Sunday School
Teacher/Helper | 9:30 am | Infants – Fifth Grade
Teachers and helpers with infants through pre-k teach basic Bible truths while providing a loving, nurturing, and safe environment. The children are taught through crafts, games, play time, Bible stories, and song. Our teachers and helpers in kindergarten through 2nd grade guide children as they begin to learn more about what it means to have a relationship with Jesus. These children enjoy learning through Bible stories, games, and activities. Teachers and helpers in 3rd-5th grade help guide the students to worship God in ALL that they do. With this age group, the opportunities abound to challenge the students to apply God’s truths to their lives. Exciting Bible stories and great discussion greet all who come.

Woodway Kids Sunday School Plus
Teacher/Helper | 11:00 am | Infants – Pre-K
Teachers and helpers with infants through pre-k teach basic Bible truths while providing a loving, nurturing, and safe environment. The children are taught through crafts, games, play time, Bible stories, and song.

FUSE
Teacher/Helper | 11:00 am | Kindergarten – Third Grade
Each week in FUSE, we desire to see our children learn more about God and His work in their lives. We also want our children to learn how we are all joined together in Christ. We do this each Sunday in the MAC with rotations of games, snacks, activities, and teaching. FUSE provides a wonderful opportunity for leaders and children to build relationships with each other.

ROOTED
Teacher/Helper | 11:00 am | Fourth + Fifth Grade
ROOTED is Discipleship. We want our students’ lives to be ROOTED in our wonderful Father. We want them to be strengthened in their faith. We want them to know, without any doubt, that they belong to God. Each week in ROOTED, we dive deep into Bible study and discussion, with teaching topics that are relevant to this age: “How to Have an Unshakeable Faith,” “Taking Ownership of Your Relationship with Jesus,” “How to Navigate the World of Friendships,” “Counter Culture,” “Unmasked: Removing the “mask” that hides your true identify,” and so much more!

Floor Coordinators
9:30 + 11:00 am | Infants – Fifth Grade
Floor Coordinators assist the teachers and volunteers in the classrooms. They not only help teachers find resources in the workroom, but they also assist the Children’s Associate with other Sunday morning duties. Floor Coordinators help ensure the safety of our children by monitoring the hallways and making sure the security doors are closed and locked.

Welcome Team + Greeters
9:30 + 11:00 am
As guests step into our building, they will be “wow-ed” IF we are ready. We need YOU to help us be ready. Our KidMin Welcome Team & Greeters smile, welcome, guide, and direct families to their children’s classes. Our guests want to know that their children will be safe, secure, happy, and in a class designed specifically for them. Join the Welcome Team and help us make a great first impression.

Prayer Team
Join the Children’s Ministry staff at 8:45 am each Sunday for prayer.

MAC Groups
One of the best ways to serve at the MAC is to join one of our MAC Groups! We encourage you to connect with a neighbor or co-worker by inviting them out for a run (84Runners), a hike (Narrow Road Hiking Club), or maybe bring them out to the MAC for Pickleball!

Acts of Love Food Pantry
Contact |  Rhonda Jones
This ministry involves collecting and distributing food to people who contact the church in need. Volunteers spend time with these families in need, sharing the love of Jesus and and providing for the family’s needs from the church’s food pantry. You can be involved by donating items or volunteering your time.

Special Needs (Helping Hands)
Contact |  Alexis Gurley
Helping Hands provides ministry for persons with disabilities (babies through adulthood) and their families. More than 40 members are either partnered with a Buddy so they can attend regular Sunday School classes, or are taught in their own special classes. Our volunteer base is primarily made up of church members, high school age through senior adults, as well as several college students. Please consider joining us twice per month (or more if you’d like) for an hour to work with these precious children, teens, and adults. We look forward to getting to know you as you minister alongside these families! Visit the Special Needs page to learn more.

Worship Choir
The Choir sets the pace for our church family as they lead out in worship each week.  We are looking for everyone who has a heart for worship to join us. Rehearsals take place each Wednesday night from 6:30 – 7:30 pm.

Orchestra
We are looking for experienced players who want to use their gifts to worship the Lord through the First Woodway Orchestra.  The orchestra plays 12 times per semester, averaging two Sundays on and one Sunday off. Orchestra members rehearse at 8:00 am on the Sunday mornings they play. Then they play as part of the worship services. The orchestra also plays for special events throughout the year, including Christmas, Easter, and special worship events.

Worship Band
The worship band is a rotating, auditioned group consisting of keyboard (synth), electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drums, and auxiliary percussion (shaker, cajon, conga drums, sus cymbal, chimes, etc…). They are the foundation of all we do in the worship ministry. They meet each Sunday at 7:45 am to pray, set up and rehearse for the morning services.

Praise Team
Praise Team is an auditioned group that primarily is made up of members from the choir. They gather for prayer and rehearsal at 7:30 am on Sundays and sing in the service.

The team consists primarily of but is not limited to drums, bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboards, and vocalists. They gather for rehearsal every Wednesday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.

Discipleship Class Leaders
Every semester we provide a number of midweek discipleship classes to congregants and the wider community. Leaders either teach or facilitate discussion in these settings. We are always interested in finding new leaders!

Group Leaders
Group leaders serve on teams that oversee group life at First Woodway. Most groups meet on Sunday mornings, and a few groups meet in homes throughout the week. Let us know if you are interested in serving as a teacher or fellowship coordinator in this area!

Woodway Teams

Contact | Scott Dixon

The task of hosting visitors and members well is an incredibly important one, and we need help in order to do this with excellence! We are looking for smiling faces to add to our great team of volunteers to help serve in this vital ministry.

Golf Cart Team
We have a big parking lot and lots of traffic in it, so we would love to offer safe and convenient rides to our church family.

Red Wagon Team
If you have a heart for kids and love to bring smiles to their faces when they come to Sunday School, then join our Red Wagon Team that chauffeurs our kids to the Children’s Ministry prior to the 9:30 am service on Sundays. Our children love the rides and get excited about coming to church!

Woodway Kids Greeters
Once families get into the building, we want to make sure that they feel welcomed and taken care of…that’s what Kingdom Kids Greeters are all about! We help our guests get checked in on our system and then help them find classrooms for their little ones.

Greeter Team
These are our people standing in strategic locations to make sure that everyone who walks into our building is greeted with a smile, a handshake, and a statement that says no matter who you are, how your morning has gone, we are so glad you are here!

Welcome Desk
This team’s main purpose is to be Information Central! If you have a question about which class would be a good fit for you, where do the kids go for their classes, what time are the services, or any number of other questions…this is the team you go to!

Guides
This group is the one who walks our guests to the locations that the Welcome Desk points them to…in other words, this group helps to make sure we don’t have anyone wandering the halls looking for where they are supposed to be!

The best kind of storytelling includes visual storytelling, and few things communicate better than a good photo. If you are a talented photographer and would like to help us capture the life and heart of the First Woodway family, we’d love to hear from you.

If you are looking for a creative and unique way to serve at First Woodway, we have a place for you on the production crew! With every sound transmitted, every light shone, and each image displayed in our services and live events, we seek to steward the atmosphere for the presence of God. No experience necessary—training is provided. All ages welcome! We ask that volunteers under 13 are accompanied by a parent serving alongside them.
