Christmas is a favorite season for many of us – parties and gatherings, laughter with family and friends, and extra time off from work. In addition to all these good things, our hope is that you will especially take time this season for the best thing… drawing near to Christ and experiencing His presence.
CHRISTMAS AT FIRST WOODWAY
Christmas Missions Offering
As a church, First Woodway has strongly supported missions projects through giving, including those promoted by the Southern Baptist Convention. This year we are combining these giving opportunities into one offering – the Christmas Missions Offering. Your designated gift to this offering will be divided among these four groups:
* 40% to Lottie Moon – benefits international missions
* 30% to Annie Armstrong – benefits North American missions
* 15% to Mary Hill Davis – benefits state missions
* 15% to First Woodway Missions – benefits local and international missions
Over the month of December, we ask that you remember the Christmas Missions Offering as you designate your gifts. Donations can be mailed to 101 Ritchie Rd, Waco TX 76712 or you can Give Online.

Christmas Eve Worship Services
We will gather together as a church family on Christmas Eve for our annual celebration of the birth of Jesus. Come share in the Christmas spirit with carols and hymns. Services are at 3:30 and 5:00 pm. We will again have a story time for the little ones (so bring them in their jammies!), but this year they will stay seated with their parents.
We will be live-streaming both services on our website: bit.ly/FW-thespot
December 27 + January 3
Holiday Worship Schedule
Worship services will be held at 9:00 and 10:30 am, and Life Groups, Youth and Children will not meet. Childcare will be provided for babies – twos during the 10:30 hour.
Sundays in December
“Carols” Sermon Series
Starting Sunday, November 29 and throughout the month of December, Dr. Sands will teach a series called “Carols,” in which we look at the gospel message found in the Christmas Carols we all know and love.
Advent Devotional Guide
Blake Sherman has written a devotional book to help guide us through this season of Advent (November 29 – January 6). It gets really busy this time of year, and our prayer is that you will use these books as a way to pause and reflect on Christ over the coming weeks. You can find guides at the Welcome Center, on displays near the elevators on each floor, and in the church office. Click here for the online version of the guide.
Christmas Activity for Families
Dough Holy Night
This is a fun and interactive experience designed for your family to do at home. Together, you will bake a batch of Christmas cookies and, along the way, hear the story of the very first Christmas. Best of all, there is a video that walks you step-by-step through the entire experience. It is so simple. To participate, you can find all materials on our website by clicking here.
Family Advent Kit
To help your family stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas, Kingdom Kids is providing an Advent Kit for your family. Included with each day of Advent (which begins November 29), is a scripture reading and short devotion about one of the names for Jesus. Discussion questions are provided, along with an activity for each day. You can pick up your Advent Kit in the Atrium of the Children’s building on Sundays or in the children’s ministry office during the week.
