Throughout the fall and spring seasons, senior adults (age 55+) meet on Sunday evenings for a special time of fellowship. These gatherings include Bible teaching, prayer, and traditional worship singing classic hymns. Learn more about this ministry on the Senior Adults page, and reach out to Latisha Dixon, Office Administrator/Assistant to the Senior Pastor, with any questions.
7:37 pm
In 7:37 Discipleship Groups, students, grades 6 -12, meet with a group of peers their age and gender. Each group has two college leaders that help them to grow in Christian faith and practice. 7:37 Discipleship is the spiritual backbone of the ministry and provides students with the space to mature in the faith. Learn more about the ministry on the Youth page and reach out to Terri Jones, Youth + College Assistant, with any questions.

First Woodway’s mission and hope for Discipleship Classes is to encourage you (every person in attendance) to develop a growing and understanding of God’s Word founded on distinctively Christian beliefs and healthy spiritual habits. In addition to developing your spiritual walk, Discipleship Classes are a great opportunity to get to know others in the church. We hold classes during the spring (launches in January) and fall (launches in August) semesters. Learn more on the Discipleship page and reach out to Connor Griffin, Minister of Discipleship: Life Groups, with any questions.

NEW MEMBER WORKSHOP
Joining a church can be overwhelming and somewhat confusing as you navigate how to get involved. Our New Member Workshops are for anyone interested in learning more about First Woodway and how you can become part of the church family. It’s not a commitment to join, and you won’t be pressured to do so. In these informational sessions, you will learn about our core beliefs and values, get to know church staff, and participate in Q&A. We look forward to meeting you!
BELIEFS
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14
All human beings are created in the image of God. Although they have tremendous potential for good, they are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” This attitude separates them from God.
Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1,2
God created human beings to exist forever. They will exist either in a state of eternal separation from God because of sin, or they will live forever in union with God because they have received God’s free gift of eternal life.
John 3:16; John 2:25; John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 1 John 5:11-12; Matthew 25:31-46
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, co-equal with the Father. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He defeated sin and death when he was raised on the third day. He ascended to Heaven´s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords.
Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13
Salvation is a free gift from God to all who put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. No human being can “make up” for sin through self-improvement or good works. Only God can save sinners. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ by faith.
Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1
Because God gives humankind eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian.
John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10,14; 1 Peter 1:3-5
The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make all persons aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.
2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1
The Bible is God’s word to all humankind. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is true in all that it teaches and trustworthy in all it commands.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5
Baptism is the symbolic outward expression of our new life in Christ, the obedient response to Christ’s own example and command. Baptism is by immersion following one’s salvation experience.
Matthew 3:13-17; Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4
