At First Woodway, we have six discipleship tracks.

Sometimes the next step in following Jesus is very practical in nature. Some may need to learn to better manage money. Others may need down to earth help on how to communicate with a spouse. This track is designed to practically equip you for wise living in various areas of life. Each class will focus on the “how” of a particular life skill with the goal of empowering you to live better on the other side of the class.

Intentional Parenting: 10 Ways to Be an Exceptional Parent in a Quick-Fix World
Led by: Jeremy and Kelly McCarver
Open to All
Wednesdays, 6pm; 5 weeks
No Cost

No matter how good their intentions, all parents at times resort to quick-fix parenting: things we do to stop a kid’s negative or annoying behavior. Quick-fix parenting may temporarily ease a parent’s stress level, but it does little to positively impact a child’s future. Intentional parenting is the opposite of quick-fix parenting. Intentional parenting is a way to raise children to become healthy, independent young adults. It’s based on solid principles which, applied over time, actually result in less-stressed parents and happier, better-adjusted, and more successful kids. Intentional parenting means you’ve got more than good intentions; you’ve got a plan.

This offering of Intentional Parenting is geared especially toward parents of middle-school aged kids and younger.

The Book of Revelation: Future Prophecy, Chapters 18-22
Led by: Dr. Ted Foley
Open to All
Wednesdays, 6pm; 10 weeks
No Cost

The Book of Revelation has been described as the most revered, the most misunderstood, and the most neglected of New Testament writings. Some Christians think of it as too difficult to seriously study, and nothing could be further from reality and the truth. Such short-sightedness deprives believers of the blessings the Book promises to those who diligently read and study it.

Revelation is a showcase of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and its true purpose is to reveal truth, not to obscure it, and that single fact is in its title.

Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near (Rev. 1:3)

Jeremiah
Led by: Melodie Robison
Women Only
Wednesdays, 6-7pm; 12 weeks
Start Date: 1/15
Cost: $15

When we look around at today’s world, hope usually isn’t the first word that comes to mind. In many ways we live in an unstable world where marriages fail, bank accounts run low, friendships end, and the everyday demands of a fast-paced life get us down. In the Book of Jeremiah, we find God calling out to His people with a message of hope—a message that intentional living is possible even in an unstable world. But how do we do this? Where do we start? Jeremiah offers women hope for living in an uncertain world by learning to navigate the challenges and circumstances of their lives. This six-week study examines God’s words of instruction to His wayward people through the prophet Jeremiah, and provides women six guidelines for intentional living to overcome fear, worry, and doubt as they surrender their wills to God’s and put their hope in Him alone.

ARTIOS is not currently accepting new students. Check back this fall!
For further info, contact ARTIOS Director Ron Cook.

ARTIOS is a two to three year training program for Christians who are passionate about serving Christ. It is designed to equip church members with the knowledge and skills they need to be effective ministers of the gospel. The program’s purpose is reflected in the name. ARTIOS (from the Greek) means equipped, proficient, or competent. Paul uses the word when he tells the young minister Timothy,

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped [artios] for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

ARTIOS will provide participants with a basic foundation for ministry upon which they can build.
