CONTEND FOR THE FAITH

Prayer has always been an important part of life at First Woodway. Recognizing this vital role, the Deacons felt God leading them to create a centralized prayer ministry that would bring unity and intentionality to our church’s prayer efforts. The result is an exciting new prayer ministry called Contend. The name comes from Jude 3, which urges believers to “contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.”

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” – Romans 12:12
As our church family is entering a fresh season of prayer and consecration in search of our next pastor, we are setting a daily reminder for 12:12 pm to take a moment to pray as the Spirit guides us. Would you be faithful to lift up the Search Team, our church family, the staff, and the pastor God is preparing for us? Our desire is to draw nearer to Him, seeking His guidance as we faithfully follow Him.

8:15 – 9:15 am | MAC College Room (A203)
You’re invited to be part of a meaningful time of prayer each Sunday morning from 8:15–9:15 am. We are adjusting the time to make it easier for people to join. The College Room (second floor of the MAC, off the walking track) will be open for you to come and go freely, praying in whatever way feels natural – silently, out loud, or with others. Prayer guides will be available as we seek God’s guidance, power, and blessing over our ministries, leaders, and worship gatherings. All are welcome.

Our church family is dedicating the first Monday of each month to prayer and fasting. This spiritual discipline, deeply rooted in scripture, encourages humility, reliance on God, and earnest seeking of His wisdom and guidance. Below are resources and practical guidance to support everyone—whether experienced or new to fasting—as we embark on this meaningful spiritual journey together.

The Deacons and Staff invite all ages for an evening dedicated to worship, prayer, and welcoming a powerful move of the Holy Spirit. Gather at 6:00 pm with the First Woodway family as we lift up the ministries and mission of our church and seek His wisdom in choosing our next pastor. It will be a beautiful night sitting in the presence of the Lord, as we lean into Jude’s encouragement to “contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints.” (Jude 3) Our nights of prayer and worship for Fall 2025 will be held on August 10 and October 12.
